Health Foundation of South Florida Awards $150,000 Grant to Center for Haitian Studies to Strengthen Community Health Initiatives

MIAMI, FL – November 5th, 2025 — The Health Foundation of South Florida has awarded a $150,000 grant to the Center for Haitian Studies (CHS) to expand community health initiatives benefiting residents in Little Haiti, Little River and North Miami.

This investment will allow CHS to strengthen preventive care programs, expand access to vital health services, and continue addressing social determinants of health affecting low to moderate income families.

“At the Health Foundation of South Florida, we’re proud to partner with the Center for Haitian Studies to expand access to quality care,” said Loreen Chant, President and CEO of the Health Foundation of South Florida. “This collaboration helps ensure that more residents, regardless of income or insurance, receive the preventive and chronic care they need, while also advancing data that highlights the essential role the Center plays in improving community health and well-being.”

For decades, the Center for Haitian Studies has provided culturally responsive healthcare, education, and social services to underserved populations in Little Haiti, Little River, North Miami, and throughout Miami-Dade County. The Foundation’s continued support helps CHS meet critical needs and promote wellness through programs that prioritize accessibility, prevention, and community trust.

“Support from the Health Foundation of South Florida is transformational for the communities we serve,” said Dr. Larry Pierre, Founder and Executive Director of CHS. “This grant helps us continue delivering care that reflects our community’s unique needs and strengthens our ability to build a healthier South Florida.”
